What do you get a dad who has everything? Well, this Father’s Day let’s make a homemade gift for Dad that he will love and be able to use every day. No, it’s not a rock paper weight. This is a useful gift that won’t collect dust on a shelf over the years. This year’s Father’s Day gift from the kids is going to be a desk organizer!

Materials Needed:

  • Paint
  • Paint brushes
  • Small photo of the family (optional)
  • Mod Podge
  • Wooden organizer, like this one!

Father’s Day Gift Instructions:

  1. If you have young kids, set out washable paint. Older children can use acrylic paint. Let your children paint as much or as little as they want on the gift for Dad. You can ask if they want to make a handprint on the side or trace the words “#1 Dad!”
  2. While it is drying cut a family picture out to adhere to the side or little portraits cut in the shape of circles to put across the front. Use Mod Podge to glue the pictures on and create a clear barrier over the image. You can also cover the rest of the wood with Mod Podge for a glossy look and to seal in the washable paint.
  3. Fill the desk organizer with pens, post-it notes, paper clips, and a phone charger. Wrap it up and you are good to go!
  4. If you are feeling strapped for time, order the supplies and ask your Boston nanny to make the Father’s Day gift for Dad with the kids.

More Homemade Gifts for Dad

Are you looking for a different homemade gift for Dad that fits his personality more? Try this handprint grilling platter or footprint koozie this Father’s Day. Don’t forget a homemade card too; that always brings a smile to a parent’s face. Remember, just like moms, Dad may want some alone time to relax on Father’s Day. You could ask if he wants to kick back and watch sports while you bring the kids to a local park.
