As I’ve highlighted here and in The Baby Nurse Bible, staying fit during and after pregnancy not only makes your body look and feel great, but it also tends to increase your mind’s sense of positivity and happiness. That’s why I was thrilled to meet Melissa of Baby Boot Camp, a stroller fitness program that helps moms regain or enhance pre-pregnancy fitness levels and meet the physical challenges of parenting by emphasizing strength training in a supportive environment. Although I have not personally participated in this type of program, Boston Baby Nurse Managing Editor Abbey McDonald, used a similar one to get her pre-pregnancy body back (and in better shape than ever) and highly recommends it not only for the intense workouts and results, but friendships made in the process. I am always on the lookout for exercise resources to refer to moms I work with and have to agree that this one is yet another that seems worth looking into.
Melissa’s Massachusetts North Shore chapter is holding a BABY “BOO” CAMP Halloween Party and Open House this Saturday October 29 at the Cove Community Center 19 East Corning Street Beverly, MA. In addition to meeting other new moms and learning more about the program, there will be a “Great Pumpkin Workout,” Treats from Earth’s Best Organic, a Monster Mash Dance Party, Crafts and Games, Class Discounts, Raffles and Goodie Bags. Wear your Costume and Bring a Pumpkin to Decorate! The event is completely free to attend so tell your friends and RSVP here!
